We are pleased to announce this year’s virtual Barristers’ Breakfast Keynote Speaker, Representative Rena Moran!
Representative Rena Moran is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and is also a mother to 7 children. In 2011, she was recognized as one of St. Paul’s first Black legislators, bringing new perspective and diversity to the Minnesota legislature. In February of 2020, she helped introduce the HF 3658, a bill to amend the Minnesota constitution to enshrine the right to a “quality public education” for all children in Minnesota. Rep. Moran had more than 30 lawmakers join her as authors of that bipartisan bill seeking to advance the “Page Amendment,” named after former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan Page.
Currently, she serves as the Director of Parent Leadership at St. Paul-based Minnesota Communities Caring for Children, home of Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota, as well as chairing the Ways and Means committee within the state legislature. Previously, she chaired the House Health and Human Services Policy Committee and was co-chair of the House Select Committee on Racial Justice. Additionally, she served as chair of the People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus and United Black Legislative Caucus.
Barristers’ Breakfast provides vital funds to support student tuition assistance for young learners in our community who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend preschool. Now, more than ever, families need this tuition assistance. Consider making a gift to support our children if you are unable to join us for the event.
